STEWARDSHIP COORDINATOR
kara@gvlt.org
“At GVLT, I feel fortunate to partner with and learn from our local landowners who have long been dedicated to keeping southwest Montana a special place.”
Kara joined GVLT in April 2025 as a Stewardship Coordinator with a background in natural resource management and a passion for conservation. Before joining the GVLT crew, Kara served as an AmeriCorps member in western Nevada, where she helped restore crucial wetland habitats around tributaries of the Truckee River. Recently, she has worked to protect Gallatin County’s water resources as an environmental health specialist with the Gallatin City-County Health Department. Kara obtained a dual Bachelor of Science in environmental and political science from Saint Michael’s College in Vermont before eventually finding her way to Montana State University for graduate school. As a graduate research assistant at MSU, Kara’s work focused on integrated weed management for organic, small-grain producers. Originally hailing from the Midwest, Kara has enjoyed being humbled by skiing, mountain biking, and long-distance trail running. After hours, you can find her exploring the lesser-traveled trails around southwest Montana with her husband, Aaron, and their pup, Iliahi.
