Mary grew up in New England and was drawn to the Rocky Mountain West shortly after college. A Bozeman resident since 1990, Mary has over 25 years of experience in the field of sustainable food systems, including serving as part of the team that launched the interdisciplinary degree program in Sustainable Food and Bioenergy Systems (SFBS) at Montana State University in 2009. Between 2011 and 2015, Mary served as Deputy Director of the National Farm to School Network, successfully growing the nonprofit organization and expanding the integration of local food in schools, school gardens, and sustainable food system education in preK-12 schools across the U.S. Mary returned to MSU in 2016 where she serves as Program Leader of the SFBS Program and contributes to campus and community sustainability initiatives. Mary has a Bachelor of Science in biology from Tufts University and a Master of Science in nutrition science from Colorado State University and most enjoys getting out on the trails (hiking, skiing, jogging—it’s not really running) with family, friends, and Moosey, the wonder dog.
