“It is a privilege to work on behalf of our community to protect and expand trail access for all people in the Gallatin Valley.”
Originally from wild, wonderful West Virginia, Matt and his family have made their home here, among the mountains and wide-open spaces of the West. Matt spent seven years at Northern Lights Trading Company in Bozeman, managing marketing and operations for the outdoor retailer, before moving over to the Montana State University Foundation where he directed the University’s philanthropic grants strategy. A lifelong wanderer of the woods, he spent six months of his young adulthood hiking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. This experience helped shape his conservation ethic, one that includes not only open space but the ability to enjoy the land via a connected network of trails. Matt holds a Bachelor of Science in recreation and park management from Penn State, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Montana State University. He spends his free time chasing his three boys around the parks and trails of the Gallatin Valley.
