Update: Bikefill Community Bike Park Construction Underway!
Safety First: Bikefill is a Closed Construction Zone
For your safety and to protect the new trails under construction, all public access is strictly prohibited until the official park opening, estimated for Fall 2027. Thank you for your patience!
Dirt is moving at Bikefill—Bozeman’s new 66-acre community bike park!
Along with our project partners at the City of Bozeman and the Dirt Concern (the Bozeman chapter of the Southwest Montana Mountain Bike Association), we are excited to share a glimpse of the initial trail work!
Initial Progress and Next Steps
Our Montana-based design and construction team, led by Integrated Trail Lab and Terraflow Trail Systems, is hard at work building trails that riders of all ages and abilities can enjoy when the park opens in Fall 2027.
Current progress includes initial construction of:
Flow trails: Beginner (green), intermediate (blue), and advanced (black) one-directional downhill flow trails running from the top of the park to the central “Riders’ Hub.” Purpose-built for mountain bikes, flow trails feature smooth turns, rolling terrain, and consistent features.
Perimeter Trail: An intermediate singletrack trail that winds around the entire 66-acre park.
Adaptive Access: Many of these trails are designed to accommodate adaptive trail-use devices.
Next Up:
Family-Friendly Kid Zone: Construction at the base of the park, featuring additional green trails, mini pump track, skills area, and shaded pavilions.
Additional Infrastructure: A parking lot, bathrooms, and other key amenities.
Smart Infrastructure: McIlhattan Road Improvements
As part of this project, the City of Bozeman is improving McIlhattan Road. Through smart design, dirt excavated from the road project is being repurposed to build bike park features—saving costs and maximizing local resources. McIlhattan Road is currently on track to be completed and reopened by mid-November.
Powered by Our Community
This $6 million project is a true public-private partnership, with funding coming from the City of Bozeman (McIlhattan Road improvements and Bikefill civil infrastructure); State, County, and competitive grants; and over 800 individuals who contributed to GVLT’s largest-ever fundraising campaign. We could not build this park without this very generous and broad base of support.
We are also grateful to the 1,000+ community members who shared input during last winter’s public engagement process. Your feedback helped shape our plans—leading us to enhance beginner trails and expand the family-friendly kid zone.
